Product Review- Shea Moisture Dandruff Control Pre-Poo Rinse

….Yes, I haven’t posted in years, it’s time to get back to writing blog posts.

On to the review…I’ve noticed this past year that I’ve developed dandruff and dry scalp. This has changed my hair care routine completely. I’m very loyal to the Shea Moisture brand, all of the products I’ve tried so far have worked for me and this product is no different.IMG_4924

This is a pre-shampoo spray. You need to apply it before you shampoo. I actually spray this stuff before I even shower. On my wash days (yes, I have to plan out my hair wash days), I will brush my hair, then spray this on my trouble spots like my hair like and some specific spots that I notice have the most flakes, itchiness, or dryness.

After spraying I’ll leave it in for about 5-10 minutes. The instructions on the bottle recommend 3 minutes. I also spray this when I feel random dryness or itchiness but it will be just one spray in one specific spot, if I need to.  Continue reading

Organix Morroccan Curling Perfection Defining Cream

As you all should know by now, I love finding products that define my wavy hair. More importantly, I love when products define my curls without leaving them crunchy. I despise when hair products leave my hair stiff and crunchy. Anyways, moving on…I have found a gem with this defining cream.

I’ve only used one Organix product before and I was pleased with the results when I came across this little bottle at my local Walgreens, I was pretty excited to try it out.

Tresemme Curl Activator Spray

No need for hairspray with this product

It’s no secret that I’m a big Tresemme fan. Their products are inexpensive and work well for me, so I continue to be loyal fan.

I’ve used this product in two different ways. The first way I sprayed it on my hands and worked it through my hair. The second way, I sprayed it on my hair and blow dried it for a couple of minutes. The folks at Tresemme recommend the second way for the best results.

I do not recommend spraying it on your hair directly. If you spray too much in one spot it will make your hair stiff and tacky, so take the time to notice how much and where you’re spraying the product.

Organix: Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil

I don’t have much experience with using any type of oils in my hair. The only oil that I’ve ever used in my hair is extra virgin olive oil. But after hearing how great Moroccan oil is for your hair, I decided to go ahead and give it a try.

It is important that I mention the state of my hair before I used this product. It was very dry, damaged, and I suffered from lots of fly-aways. I’ve been using this for about 1 month or so now, and it has helped the health of my hair. Continue reading

Garnier Fructis Style Surf Hair

This is my first time using a texture paste. I have to say I was very pleased with the results.

It’s pretty difficult to find products that will work on dry hair. Most mousses, gels, curling sprays etc. claim that they can be used to spruce up your curls and waves when you’re hair is dry but they typically do not work well.

Suave Captivating Curls Shampoo and Conditioner

I’ve been using Suave’s Captivating curls line for about two months now.

I hate to say it but I haven’t noticed that much of an improvement in my hair. Surprisingly, it worked mostly on the lower half of my hair, not so much the top half. The top half of my hair needs the most help and protection, but the products did very little help that.  Continue reading

Powders to the rescue

With finals coming up a lot of us are starting to get a bit lazier when it comes to our hair routine. On the days that you wake up late or you simply didn’t feel like washing your hair for whatever reason….baking soda or baby powder is your solution.

Throughout the day, our hair collects dirt and oil. Keep in mind that our hair also produces it’s own oil and moisture. Too much oil can cause your scalp to itch and or course you end up looking like a grease ball. Continue reading

Hair care from the kitchen

Your kitchen is actually a great stop to pick up a great an inexpensive alternative hair serum.

Can you guess what it is?

Olive oil!

Besides being great cooking aide, olive oil is a great hair care aide as well. Olive oil nourishes and strengthens your hair. It can also improve the overall elasticity. Continue reading

Use soap as a shampoo

That’s right try using soap instead of shampoo.

No, not just any old bar soup, I’m talking about Dr. Bronner’s Tea Tree Oil Soap.

Sometimes after I wash my hair with shampoo, it still does not feel clean enough. I can still feel the products that are leftover in my hair and it drives me crazy. The reason for this is because sometimes just shampooing once isn’t enough to get rid of all the oils that have collected in my hair. Instead of doubling up or tripling the number of times I shampoo, I use this tea tree oil instead.
